Constitution

Article I. Name and Purpose

This organization shall be called the National Network for Early Language Learning (NNELL). It is the mission of the National Network for Early Language Learning to promote opportunities for all children to develop a high level of competence in at least one language and culture in addition to their own and to coordinate the efforts of all those involved in early language education.

Article II. Membership

Membership shall consist of individuals and organizations interested in furthering the purpose of NNELL and shall entitle them to all privileges of membership on paying dues as stipulated by the Bylaws.

Article III. Executive Board

The Executive Board will consist of six elected officers, and the Editor-in-Chief of the official publication and the Executive Secretary, who are ex officio members.

Article IV. Officers

The elected officers of the organization shall be President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Immediate Past President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Article V. Meetings

The organization will have at least one meeting of the membership annually. Notice of the Annual Meeting will be published in the official publication to be mailed at least one month before the date of the meeting. The Executive Board will also meet at least once a year.

Article VI. Committees

The Standing Committees of the organization will be: Nominating Committee, Membership Committee, Bylaws Committee, the Exhibits/Conference Committee, and the Political Action and Public Awareness Advocacy Committee. The Immediate Past President will chair the Nominating Committee. The Chair of the Membership Committee, the Chair of the Bylaws Committee, the Chair of the Exhibits/Conference Committee, and the Chair of the Political Action and Public Awareness Advocacy Committee will be appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board.

Article VII. Collaborations

NNELL seeks to collaborate with other organizations or groups that share the mission of NNELL.

Article VIII. Publications

NNELL will publish at least three issues of the official publication annually.

Article IX. Dedication of Assets

In the event of dissolution, the net assets of the organization, after payment of debts, shall proceed to another non-profit foreign language organization to be decided upon by the Executive Board.

Article X. Amendments

This Constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the Executive Board and by subsequent ratification by two-thirds of the membership responding by mail ballot.
